Next week, from November 11-13, the 10th International Microinsurance Conference will take place in Mexico City in partnership with the Asociacíon de Instituciones de Seguros (AMIS), the Munich Re Foundation and the Microinsurance Network.

It is time to celebrate 10 years of conference but also time to release the preliminary trends and key insights from the 2014 Landscape of Microinsurance in Latin America and the Caribbean study.

Uncertain weather conditions is one of the many constraints that  are beyond the farmers control. Agricultural insurance has the potential to address some of the constraints by facilitating access to means of production and changing behaviour by reducing uncertainty.

How to boost microinsurance in West Africa?

CIMA (Conference Interafricaine des Marchés d'Assurances), the West African regulatory body, is an international organisation who works on establishing a single insurance market. As part of its objective, CIMA held  the “Microinsurance Learning Sessions – Protecting the Working Poor” from 8 to 10 September 2014 in Douala, Cameroon.
Nearly 350 insurance experts participated in the event.
