Impact Insurance Facility involved in digitisation of Ghana's insurance sector

The ILO's Impact Insurance Facility is helping the digitisation of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Ghana. By providing the initial funding, technical assistance and project management support, as well as conceptualising technological solutions, the Facility has enabled the piloting of a system that allows customer to use simple mobile phones or smartphones to renew their membership to the NHIS.

Members in synergy: Oikocredit benefits from ADA's African Microfinance Week to expand risk management programme

Long-standing Network member Oikocredit has recently shared its latest success story - the expansion of its risk management programme - thanks in large part to fellow member ADA.

During the course of ADA's 2017 African Microfinance Week (SAM) in Ethiopia, Oikocredit representatives spoke with ICCO Cooperation, who advised them to go into the Burkina Faso market with their programme. Furthermore, Mali and Senegal are also held as prime target countries for expansion of the programme.

MicroEnsure provides health microinsurance and help to small-scale farmers and businesses in Kenya

MicroEnsure's work in Kenya, such as the "Fearless Health" pilot which integrates insurance with other prodcuts designed to help customers get the inpatient and outpatient care they need without delaying treatment due to costs, or success stories of helping small businessmen restart their businesses that were damaged and lost due to catastrophic events, are being held up as examples of how mobile phone technology can facilitate the distribution of microinsurance.
