WHO underlines role of health in sustainable development at 68th World Health Assembly

During the opening ceremony of the 68th World Health Assembly, both Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Angela Merkel and World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General, Dr Margaret Chan emphasized the importance of health in sustainable development and the need for strong resilient health systems. Because resilience is inherently linked to minimising risks, microinsurance plays a major role in strengthening health programmes worldwide. The Microinsurance Network's development coordinator  Jenny Nasr, has attempted to summarise this relationship with a review of the role of health microinsurance as a tool for development.
