The conference report on the 2nd African Microfinance Week, organised by African networks - African Microfinance Transparency (AMT), The African Microfinance Network (AFMIN), African Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (AFRACA) and Microfinance African Institutions Network (MAIN) - in conjunction with ADA and with support from the Luxembourg government, has been released.
The event foucsed on the main theme of "Accelerating Innovative Rural Finance in Africa" and brought together 547 participants from 49 countries, representing around 300 different organisations.
During the conference, which took place in the summer of 2015 in Dakar, Senegal, the Microinsurance Network organised a microinsurance workshop, along with Microfact and the ILO's Impact Insurance Facility, and a parallel session on MFIs in agriculutural microinsurance was also held by Grameen Crédit Agricole Microfinance Foundation (see summary on page 21).
