In Ghana microinsurance has seen rapid growth over the past few years as more and more insurance providers have expanded their services to the low-income market. This book, jointly published by the National Insurance Commission (NIC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, provides a broad overview of inclusive insurance market development in Ghana. It seeks to identify best practices and offers concrete recommendations on the way forward for the development of (micro)insurance. The authors employ a holistic approach that strives to address challenges to successful microinsurance implementation at all levels of the insurance sector: from government policy through to the end customer. The book addresses six topics of key relevance to microinsurance providers: Regulation and Supervision, Managing Information, Appropriate Pricing, Research & Development, Distribution, Innovations & Technology. This may be a useful text for insurance practitioners, distributors, policy makers, researchers and all those with an interest in expanding access to insurance for the low income population in Ghana.
