The Network's annual June Member Meeting, held in Königstein, Germany came to a close this past Wednesday, 22 June following a two-day agenda filled with insightful presentations, debates, discussions, networking and moments of leisurely entertainment mixed in for good measure. Around 50 participants contributed their time and expertise, to make this a meaningful and dynamic member meeting as well as a fruitful exchange of knowledge and ideas.
A variety of speakers brought some exciting new topics, case studies and insights to the forefront of the discussions, including: the importance of formalisation in microinsurance, the relevance of insurers in capital market development, the value of benchmarking and aspirtaional goals for the sector, the role of microinusrance in financing risk reduction, the benefits and challenges of different approaches for providing insurance to migrants, as well as a Takaful model of livestock index-insurance for herders, and the sharing of experiences in setting up and implementing microinsurance schemes in the field in a range of countries and local settings.
Members also contributed constructive feedback on the proposed Draft Network Strategy 2017-2022 Brief, which will be taken on as considerations for the full reviewed strategic document, which will be available for public consultation in early September. Members who were unable to attend the Meeting may send their feedback to the Secretariat via email by Tuesday, 5 July.
