ILO´s Impact Insurance Facility and FSD Africa: Call for proposals on change management now open

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

The ILO´s Impact Insurance Facility, in partnership with FSD Africa is now welcoming proposals from insurers looking to implement organisational changes, with a view to providing valuable and scalable insurance solutions to low-income households or micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Insurers need to innovate and develop cost-effective client-centric products and processes that are viable in the long-term, in order to enhance the impact of the insurance industry and successfully meet MSMEs´ and low-income households´ risk management needs. This can be achieved through substantial changes to business models and/or organisational structures. With experience supporting innovations at over 60 organisations, it is clear that a systematic change management process is required to prepare them to effectively serve the low-income market.

The partnership is looking for insurers that want to deliver innovative solutions to the low-income market, but need to undergo organisational changes prior to this. They will support the accepted partners through the innovation cycle, capacity building, as well as identifying and implementing organisational changes.

Support will be provided through technical assistance from the Facility team and experts, the placement of a fellow with the partner for two years to provide technical inputs and project management support, and limited grant funding.

Insurers can apply by submitting an expression of interest by 15 January, 2016.
