Over 400 experts from around 50 countries, ranging from industry and government officials to representatives of development organisations, will be gathering this week at the 11th International Microinsurance Conference (IMC), which will take place starting tomorrow, 3 November and run through until Thursday, 5 November in Casablanca, Morocco, in order to discuss and exchange information on the state of the sector and potential new insights and developments that can lead to its growth.

The Conference, organised by the Munich Re Foundation and the Microinsurance Network, in partnership with the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance (FMSAR) and the Centre Mohamed VI de Soutien à la Microfinance Solidaire (CMS), will focus on “driving growth and sustainability” with an aim to providing diversified and effective insurance coverage to the world’s low-income population.

Tomorrow, during the first day of the Conference, the preliminary briefing note of the 2015 Landscape of Microinsurance in Africa study will be presented, unveiling a 30% growth of the sector across the region in a three-year period. 61.9 million people throughout the continent are now covered by at least one microinsurance policy.

Additionally, on Friday, 6 November, the day after the end of the Conference, the Microinsurance Network will hold its Annual member General Meeting (members only).
