The workshop is organised by the IDF and the MiN with the support of UNDP, the World Bank’s Global Index Insurance Facility (GIIF), the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association (PIRA), the Philippine Life Insurance Association (PLIA), and the Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific, Inc. (IIAP).
The event will take place on 3 and 4 August, from 9 am to 5 pm local time (3 am – 11 am CEST), at the IIAP (6811 Ayala Avenue, Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines) with the possibility to attend virtually on the first day.
For in-person participation, please register here. If you want to join virtually on the first day only, please register here.
The objective of the workshop is to convene relevant national and international stakeholders that are committed to developing the inclusive insurance market in the Philippines. It will provide the opportunity to identify projects already underway in the country as well as barriers to reaching scale, and to kick off the development of a country gap analysis and roadmap of activities in order to achieve a target level of scale per risk type by 2025. It will also serve to identify a core set of individuals from relevant organisations who would be willing to invest the time needed to drive a Country Task Force to support the design and implementation of the strategy.
In order to better achieve our objective, the programme of the workshop will be split into two segments. On the first day (3 August), a hybrid gathering will bring together in-person participants with others joining virtually, for sessions focusing on the diagnostics of the inclusive insurance space in the Philippines. In the morning, we will look at the key findings and statistics on inclusive coverage from the MiN Landscape project and hear about the inclusive insurance journey and vision ahead from the supervisor and relevant industry associations. In the afternoon, we will take stock of the inclusive insurance projects currently being rolled out in the country through quick-fire presentations from national and international organisations.
On the second day (4 August), in-person participants will work together on a design sprint with the objective of developing a country roadmap based on the mapping of: (i) key levers, constraints, opportunities and priority actions for the uptake of inclusive insurance penetration in areas such as policy & regulation, infrastructure, unexplored risk segments, partnerships, funding, and others; as well as (ii) the relevant stakeholders to be involved in the implementation of the roadmap.
Please feel free to reach out to the IDF IIWG Coordinator at ppinheiro@microinsurancenetwork.org if your organisation has an innovative inclusive insurance project being implemented in the Philippines that you would like to feature in the stocktaking session of the Workshop, or if you have any questions.
