Microinsurance Network

The Microinsurance Network (MiN) is the global multi-stakeholder platform for professionals and organisations that are committed to promoting and developing inclusive insurance. Membership-based, the MiN brings together diverse stakeholders from across the insurance value chain who share a common vision of a world where people of all income levels are more resilient and less vulnerable to daily and catastrophic risks. MiN encourages peer-to-peer exchange and learning, facilitates the generation of knowledge and research, and acts as an advocate, promoting the role that effective risk management tools, including insurance, play in supporting the broader development agenda. 

Position summary 

The Regional Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the implementation of the Microinsurance Network’s work plan, under the direct supervision of the Regional Manager and the guidance of the Senior Manager. She/He will focus on strengthening MiN’s member community, facilitating collaborative spaces, generating evidence, and coordinating regional efforts with global networks. The individual will be working in a small team and must be enthusiastic, organised, and technically skilled. 

Key Responsibilities 

The key responsibilities of the role include: 

Support and strengthen MiN members located in Latin America and the Caribbean:

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with institutional and individual MiN members in the region. 
  • Identify and recruit new organisations (insurers, InsurTechs, associations, regulators, NGOs, etc.) to the Network. 
  • Gather information on the needs, interests, and capabilities of members to create opportunities for collaboration within the region and globally. 
  • Coordinate relationship-building and follow-up meetings. 

Support the execution of the regional work plan: 

  • Support the implementation of specific activities related to strategic partnerships, member support and best practice groups. 
  • Assist in the technical, logistical, and content preparation for regional events such as conferences, workshops, panels, and webinars.

Support knowledge generation and technical assistance: 

  • Contribute to the implementation of the Landscape of Microinsurance study, including stakeholder engagement, data analysis, reporting, and visualizations. 
  • Participate in the development of thematic studies, success cases, technical reports, and editorial content in both Spanish and English. 
  • Represent MiN at regional and local events, subject to the network’s needs. 

Support institutional events and communications:

  • Organise webinars and institutional presentations for MiN and partner events. 
  • Design PowerPoint presentations, draft reports in Word, and use Excel to systematise technical information. 
  • Help prepare campaigns and content for newsletters or social media. 
  • Represent the MiN at relevant event, both in-person and online.

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Support the team with other tasks as needed, depending on organisational priorities and opportunities. 

Profile 

  • Education, experience and skills 
    • University degree in fields such as Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Business Administration, Sociology, or related areas connected to sustainable development, financial inclusion, or international cooperation. 
    • At least 1 year of experience in areas related to international cooperation, financial inclusion, sustainability, or economic/social development. 
    • Experience with regional networks, multi-stakeholder projects, associations, or ESG topics is an asset.
    • Knowledge of the inclusive insurance sector and existing relationships with key stakeholders. 

Technical skills and competencies 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Native Spanish or Portuguese speaker; fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written) 
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of Power BI, Canva, or similar tools is an asset. 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise complex information. 
  • Proactivity, autonomy, adaptability, and results orientation. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel several times per year to attend conferences and events. 

Contract Conditions 

  • Consultancy-based service contract, issued annually by MiN’s headquarters in Luxembourg. 
  • 100% remote work, based in any country in Latin America. Availability for frequent virtual meetings and participation in in-person events.
  • The selected candidate must assume responsibility for paying their own health and pension contributions according to the laws of their country of residence.
