Juan Manuel Merchán, President of FEDESEG noted:

Hosting the International Conference on Inclusive Insurance 2025 in Ecuador is both an honor and a responsibility. Inclusive insurance is pivotal to closing the protection gap and building resilience, particularly for vulnerable communities facing social and climate-related challenges. By bringing global leaders, regulators, and innovators together in Quito, we aim to position Latin America—and Ecuador in particular—at the center of the conversation on how insurance can drive sustainable development, financial inclusion, and social equity.

Dirk Reinhard, Vice Chair of the Munich Re Foundation and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the ICII 2024, remarked:

Inclusive insurance is crucial for sustainable economic development and for safeguarding against the growing risks of climate change. Latin America, with its vast inadequately protected populations, is a priority region where expanding insurance services could prevent households from falling into poverty following adverse events. Inclusive insurance is not just a financial instrument; it also contributes to achieving multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including reducing poverty, promoting gender equality, improving health and facilitating climate adaptation.

Matthew Genazzini, Executive Director of Microinsurance Network, added:

Despite being one of the world’s most vulnerable regions, Latin America, and particularly Ecuador, has immense potential to expand inclusive insurance and strengthen community resilience. Quito, also known as the ‘Middle of the World’ city, is the perfect place to host the International Conference on Inclusive Insurance where both local and international insights will blend to inspire collaboration, drive innovation, and shape effective solutions for closing protection gaps.
