Regulatory issues in inclusive insurance: Survey reveals key takeaways

During the IAIS-A2ii Consultation Call on “Regulatory Incentives for Insurance Market Development”, which took place on 21 January 2016, Michael J. McCord, President of the MicroInsurance Centre and Chair of the Microinsurance Network, presented the results of a survey by the MicroInsurance Centre investigating which regulatory issues matter the most to the industry when deciding to venture into the development of an inclusive insurance product and its distribution. The survey was informed by over 100 responses from 46 different countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia. The results revealed the most important considerations as: reducing disclosure content requirements and availability of distribution channels.
