The Munich Re Foundation and Microinsurance Network would like to encourage all those with new lessons learned around key areas of focus in the microinsurance sector to submit proposals for sharing their insights at the 9th International Microinsurance Conference 2013, taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia, 12-14 November 2013. The submission deadline is 15 May 2013.
Around 500 participants and experts from around the world will exchange views and discuss the challenges of microinsurance. The participants will include representatives of insurance and reinsurance companies, international organisations, NGOs and development-aid agencies as well as academics, policymakers, and supervisory regulators.
The conference aims at distilling and disseminating information on key developments in the microinsurance market. Sessions will engage all stakeholders to recognise opportunities in the low-income market.
Presentations must include concrete lessons learnt and recommendations for the audience. A preference will be given to presentations that include details relating to product outreach and financial results. Also note, only submissions based on the details of actual results will be considered.
To cover subjects that are currently of interest, the conference organisers are calling for proposals on the following themes:
- Viable and valuable microinsurance schemes
- Distribution channels
- Takaful microinsurance
- Microinsurance for migrant workers and their families
- Technology to achieve scale and efficiency
- Failures in microinsurance
- Scientific track – Economic analysis of microinsurance markets
