In 2018, SERINSA (Servicios Inclusivos S.A.), a social venture initiated in 2016 by the regional network of MFIs in Central America and the Caribbean, REDCAMIF, requested technical assistance (TA) from ADA and BRS. This TA sought to strengthen the provision of inclusive and responsible microinsurance in the region. One of the challenges tackled in this alliance was the identification of financial and social indicators relevant to SERINSA and based on the Key Performance Indicators for Microinsurance developed by MICROFACT, a joint initiative of ADA and BRS.
These indicators enable SERINSA to measure, amongst other things, the value of the product for its clients, the sustainability of each product and the added value for the MFIs in offering these products.
At the moment SERINSA works with 11 MFIs in Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador. In 2018, 58.000 people have accessed microinsurance services in these countries.
